Crepitus

According to Medicinenet.com, crepitus is defined as, “A clinical sign in medicine that is characterized by a peculiar crackling, crinkly, or grating feeling or sound under the skin, around the lungs, or in the joints…Crepitus in a joint can indicate cartilage wear in the joint space.”

Does crepitus sound familiar? It should, it shares the same root as “decrepit”, from Latin “decrepitus”. Meaning, every time my joints grind like a manual coffee grinder or an original Ford engine I am officially decrepit. That’s right, I am on my way to being decrepit. I am a mechanism of humanity on the decline. There’s that. And your joints, if they sound like you’re opening a bag of junk food, are like mine if you feel the same.

Happy crepitus.
